by Sister Kate, Sisters of the Valley
Imbolc is one of the old fire festivals — a sacred turning point in the year. It falls halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, when winter still has its grip, but life has quietly begun to stir again beneath the surface.
Imbolc is the season of Brigid — saint, goddess, poet, and protector of the hearth-fire. Traditionally, it’s a time for lighting candles, blessing the home, and preparing for the coming season. In the old world, Imbolc was about the first signs of renewal: the earliest lambs, the first green shoots, the sense that the earth is waking up even if the weather hasn’t gotten the memo yet.
We chose Imbolc for our launch weekend because it is the holiday of new beginnings — and that is exactly what this weekend is for us.
A new chapter.
A new product line.
A new schedule.
And a new kind of visibility for Sisters of the Valley in dispensaries.

Why are there no CBD products for sale in California’s dispensaries?
Customers ask us: “Why can I buy Sisters of the Valley THC products in dispensaries, but I have to order your CBD products online?” I think everyone understands why you can’t order regulated cannabis (high-THC) through an online store, but no one understands why you can’t get non-psychoactive CBD at a dispensary, alongside ‘the stoney stuff’.
The answer is simple — and ridiculous: California put hemp-derived CBD regulation under the Department of Public Health, and they chose to forbid the sale of CBD products like ours in dispensaries. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) created a false dividing line, disconnecting the plant, disconnecting the dispensaries, and creating confusion and chaos in the industry.
The state has created a kind of wellness scavenger hunt: your THC is in stores… but your CBD has to come from the farm, online — by law. That separation isn’t consumer friendly. It isn’t logical. And it certainly isn’t good for small compliant California farms.
If you are wondering how Papa & Barkley does it, wonder no more: their “CBD wellness” products are sold through the licensed cannabis dispensary system because they contain significant THC—closer to a THC/CBD blend than a CBD-only product. Once a product lives in the dispensary lane, it can be tracked through track-and-trace and sold legally in dispensaries. That’s not the lane we were in. Until now.
We navigate, agitate, and carry on. And it’s very exciting times for us as our high-THC flower will be sold in thirty-one Southern California dispensaries beginning January 30th! We consider this moment to be THE moment we break through the dispensary barrier . . . and here’s the schedule for anyone interested in meeting up with us while we are on tour:
Imbolc Launch Tour Schedule
Friday, Jan 30:
Catalyst Van Nuys (4:00–6:00 p.m.)
Saturday, Jan 31 Traditional LAX (10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) Catalyst Normandie (1:00–3:00 p.m.) Traditional DTLA (4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
Sunday, Feb 1
Catalyst Florence (10:00–12:00 p.m.)
Catalyst Silver Lake (2:00–4:00 p.m.)
A dispensary tour is more than a schedule — it’s how community gets built in California cannabis. We’ll be meeting the budtenders, talking to Catalyst and Traditional customers, and shaking hands in person, the old-fashioned way.
Come meet the Sisters, bring your questions, share your stories, or just say hello — we hope you’ll come out.
Imbolc is the season of beginnings.
And this weekend, we begin.
