The Sisters’ Oregon Season Begins

When the Sisters of the Valley return to Oregon in September, we won’t simply be visiting our new partner farm.  We’ll be returning to finish what we began in August.

Our first Oregon crop is moving toward harvest, and this fall the Sisters will complete the blessing cycle, harvest the plants and prepare for our first Sisters of the Valley dispensary launch outside California.  By November, we expect to be back on the road in Oregon — this time following the cannabis from the farm to the shelves.

Three Flowers, Three Ways to Buy Them

The Sisters’ first Oregon cannabis collection will launch with three flower varieties: Sacred Grove, First Fire and Returning Light.  The three were selected by the Sisterhood from the Oregon farm’s genetics for their different qualities and experiences.

Sacred Grove is our heavier evening flower, while First Fire and Returning Light offer lighter experiences suited to other parts of the day.  We’ll share the complete genetics, cannabinoid profiles and strain descriptions as the flowers move through harvest and final testing.  Each of the three varieties will be available in several formats. There will be prepackaged flower in half-ounce and one-ounce bags.  There will also be deli-style flower available in jars at participating dispensaries, allowing customers to see and smell the flower and purchase the amount they choose.  And each strain will be available in five-packs of king-cone pre-rolls.  Same plants. Same Sisters. Different ways to take them home.

First Stores Are Already Signing On

The retail work has already begun.  Budz Superstore has become the first Oregon chain to commit to carrying the Sisters’ flower and pre-rolls in its five Southern Oregon locations.  Other dispensary conversations are underway as the crop approaches harvest.  Signing the first stores before the plants have even come down makes this project feel solid. These flowers will have their gateway to the people when they are done with their field work.  .

Putting Mother Earth at the Center of our Spirituality 

Our August visit began the ceremonial work required under the guidelines we formed for growing kosher cannabis.  The Sisters first performed a ritual of gratitude at sunset and followed that by a similar sunrise service.  We return to Oregon in September to execute two more sunset services.  They are not technically ‘land blessings’ or ‘crop blessings’ because the land and the plants are pure and good and need no blessing; these ceremonies are done to honor the earth and the plants and all life.

November – Flower is on the Dispensary Shelves

This time, instead of concentrating primarily on the farm, we plan to head north and visit the dispensaries carrying Sisters of the Valley cannabis.  We’ll meet the budtenders selling the flower, meet customers, talk about the plants and the Six Roots of Kosher Cannabis, and see for ourselves how the Sisters’ first Oregon crop has traveled from field to shelf.

We also plan to make room during the trip for the things that remind us there is life beyond cannabis commerce, including a public gathering for the blessing of animals and a visit with elders in Northern Oregon.  The complete November route will be announced closer to the tour.

From One Farm to Another

There is something particularly satisfying about looking at a finished package and knowing where the plant inside it came from.  We know this land.  We have walked these fields.  We know the people growing these plants.  We participated in selecting the flowers.  We blessed the land beneath them and stood among the plants at sunrise. And before harvest, we will return to bless them again.

Sacred Grove, First Fire and Returning Light are strains chosen by the Sisterhood from a farm with which we now have a genuine agricultural partnership.  This fall, that partnership becomes something people can hold in their hands.  Oregon, here we come.
