By Sister Kate

For more than a decade, Sisters of the Valley has cultivated hemp on our California farm according to our own traditions, rituals, and standards. During that time, we have met many growers, visited many farms, and seen countless cultivation methods.

Every once in a while, however, we encounter people who are doing something exceptionally well.  That is how our relationship with Emily Gogol and the team behind Grow It From Home began.

A few weeks after Emily and her husband Ryan visited our California farm, a shipment arrived from Oregon. Inside were feminized cannabis seedlings.

Anyone who has worked with young plants knows how fragile they can be. Temperature swings, rough handling, dehydration, and transit delays can all take their toll. We have raised plants ourselves and know firsthand how much care is required to get them through their earliest stages of life.

That is why we were so impressed. The seedlings arrived healthy, vigorous, and ready to grow.  What caught our attention was not only the quality of the plants, but the system behind them. Grow It From Home has developed specialized packaging that allows living plants to travel across the country while remaining protected and upright. After seeing the process firsthand, we understood why growers throughout the United States have come to trust them.

The more we learned about Emily’s work, the more we realized that our organizations shared something important.  We both believe that people benefit from a direct relationship with the plant.

At Sisters of the Valley, we make plant-based products and advocate for access to plant medicine. At Grow It From Home, Emily and her team help people cultivate their own plants successfully, beginning with healthy feminized seedlings and the guidance needed to help them thrive.

While our methods may differ, our values are remarkably similar.  We value quality over shortcuts.  We value education over hype.  We value stewardship over exploitation.  We value science and those processes that teach us.  And we believe that healthy plants begin with healthy starts.

For that reason, we are pleased to announce a new partnership with the team behind Grow It From Home.  As part of this collaboration, Grow It From Home is offering  Sisters of the Valley-branded grow bags and cultivation resources through a dedicated partnership program. We will also be directing members of our community who wish to grow their own plants toward a source we have personally tested and trust.

Just as importantly, this partnership gives the Sisters our first agricultural foothold in Oregon.  For years, the Sisters have wondered if they would be able to have farms outside California.  We have always taken a careful approach to growth, believing that meaningful partnerships are more important than rapid expansion.

We are not interested in becoming the biggest.  We are interested in working with people who share our values.  Emily and her team have built something special.  They care deeply about plant health, cultivation success, and helping people grow with confidence.  After seeing their work firsthand, we are proud to recommend them to our community.

Sometimes a partnership begins with a contract.  Sometimes it begins with a conversation around a kitchen table.  And sometimes it begins when a box of healthy seedlings arrives from Oregon and reminds you that people who truly care about plants can recognize one another immediately.

Healthy & Happy Plants

And it is Oregon!  We’ve had a loyal following in Oregon for a very long time. Students from Oregon universities have interviewed us for class projects, local journalists have reached out over the years, and we’ve shipped products to customers throughout the state. Even before we had a farm partner there, we always felt that Oregon understood what we were trying to build. Establishing our first agricultural foothold there feels less like expansion and more like coming home to friends.

It’s not too late to plant your long season grow.  You can follow this link to order.

We are quite certain that this is just the beginning of a developing relationship and we are honored to call Oregon home to our first agricultural foothold beyond California.
